Honorary Doctorate:
911±¬ÁÏÍøState East Bay will confer an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters to Mildred Howard during the May 14 commencement ceremony for the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences.
The lifelong East Bay resident is an artist with sculptural installation and mixed-media assemblages on national and international display. Her art can be seen in the permanent collections of museums like the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Oakland Museum of California. Howard has received numerous awards over the years, including from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Flintridge Foundation Award for Visual Art.
