911±¬ÁÏÍøState Hayward Defeats Pioneers in Alumni Game

HAYWARD, Calif. - 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Hayward defeated the Pioneers 10-9 in the first annual Alumni vs. Alumni Baseball Game on October 10. The Pioneers tied the score 4-4 on a three-run homer by Michael Thomasson. 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Hayward took an 8-5 lead in the seventh inning highlighted by a two-run double by Brian Lloyd.

911±¬ÁÏÍøState Hayward added two more runs in the top of the ninth on a two-run home run off the bat of Manny Merel. Lamonte Toney belted a three-run home run as a late rally in the bottom of the ninth fell short for the Pioneers.

Steven Roll, the fourth of five 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Hayward pitchers, recorded the victory. Lloyd, Merel, and Steven Shinkwin each drove in a pair of runs while Tyler Shook was 2-for-2 at the plate for 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Hayward. Toney and Thomasson drove in seven of the Pioneers nine runs. Domingo Rodriguez and Jason Bumbaca each had two hits for the Pioneers. Ray Stokes had a big day for the Pioneers with two hits, three runs scored, and four stolen bases.
