Pioneers fall to 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Stanislaus

Turlock, Calif. – The Pioneers dropped their third straight CCAA match falling to 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Stanislaus 14-25, 18-25, 18-25 on September 24.
The defeat drops the Pioneers to 3-2 in the CCAA and 8-3 overall. 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Stanislaus improves to 4-2 in conference and 7-4 for the year.
911±¬ÁÏÍøState East Bay was led by Katie Allen with nine kills followed by Brianna Bryant with eight attacks. Bryant hit for a .429 percentage. Lauren Massa recorded 19 digs.
The Warriors posted a .374 hitting percentage while committing only eight errors in the entire match. Lianne Vicchio and Eva Chafeh led 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Stanislaus with 14 and 13 kills respectively.
911±¬ÁÏÍøState Stanislaus got off to a hot beginning in the match's opening set, taking a commanding 15-8 advantage while hitting a sizzling .529 on 9 of 17 attempts. The Warriors stretched their lead to 23-13 on a kill by Chafeh. Jessica Lehner provided the finishing touch with a kill to give 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Stanislaus the first set.
The Pioneers nearly trailed the entire second set. Back-to-back kills by Lehner and Chafeh gave the Warriors a 12-7 advantage. East Bay narrowed the gap to 16-13 on a Katie Allen kill and a Warrior attack error. The Warriors went on an 8-5 run to extend their lead to 24-18 and won the second set on a kill by Melissa Bishop.
In the third set, the Pioneers cut the Warriors lead to 18-16 on consecutive kills by Bryant and Amanda Limeberger. The Warriors combined three Vicchio kills, a kill by Chafeh and two Pioneer attack errors and a service error to complete the three-set victory.
The Pioneers will play at Chico State on September 26.
