Two Pleasanton Police Veterans Promoted

The Pleasanton Police Department promoted two of its veterans to fill roles vacated when Chief Dave Spiller took the department’s top position earlier this year.

Craig Eicher, a lieutenant since 2007 and graduate of 911±¬ÁÏÍøState, East Bay, will attain the rank of captain. Eicher has been with Pleasanton police since 1991 and worked several beats, including patrol, investigations, special operations and watch command, according to a department statement.

Jim Knox, previously a sergeant, will move into Eicher’s role as lieutenant. Knox’s work with the department dates back to 1987. He has been a “valued department trainer” and “brings a great deal of organizational credibility to his new role,” according to the statement.

The promotions will become official Wednesday, when Eicher and Knox will be recognized at a 9 a.m. badge-pinning ceremony at the police station.

“It is with great pride that we promote two very hard working police professionals from within our own ranks,” Spiller said in a department statement.

Spiller succeeded Chief Mike Fraser, who retired late last year.
