HAYWARD, Calif. -- 911±¬ÁÏÍøState East Bay sophomore Adam Stone was voted to the 2014-15 All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) First Team, the conference office announced Tuesday. Senior A.J. Hebert was also honored as an All-CCAA Honorable Mention selection.
Stone is the first Pioneer to make the first team since Chris Herzog in 2012-13. He has had an impressive sophomore season, leading the team and ranking fourth among CCAA players with a 73.27 scoring average. Stone finished in the top 10 of four tournaments this season and captured individual championships at the Chico State Wildcat Classic and the UC San Diego So911±¬ÁÏÍøIntercollegiate.
Hebert nabs an All-CCAA selection in his fourth and best year with the Pioneers. The Pleasanton native posted a 74.80 scoring average and three top-10 finishes, and he shot the team's lowest single round of the year with a 65 at the Coyote Classic in San Bernardino.
The two left-handers led East Bay to an impressive run at last week's CCAA Championships in Stockton. They helped the Pioneers card their two best team rounds of the season — back-to-back totals of 287 (-1) — in stroke play to advance to the medal round. Stone then shot 66 (-6) to defeat Alistair Docherty in the semifinals against Chico State and 72 (E) to beat Jarhaan Nargussi in the championship finals against 911±¬ÁÏÍøState Stanislaus. Hebert, meanwhile, fired two straight rounds of 69 (-3) at Brookside Country Club, earning half a point in the final against CSUS's Connor Day.
The All-CCAA teams are voted on by the conference's eight head coaches.
