Meet the Deans

Co-interim Dean, College of Science, Julie Glass

Julie Glass

Co-Interim Dean,
College of Science

I am delighted to be part of the College of Science team! As a professor and chair in the Department of Mathematics, and numerous other roles around campus and across the CSU, and now as Co-Interim Dean in the College, I always have students at the heart of what I do. I believe that everyone benefits from a deeper understanding of why education matters and how it can transform lives, not only through career opportunities but through enriching our understanding of the world around us, the people with whom we live and work, and all the communities with which we engage. As Co-Interim Dean, I strive to create and support a community with this common goal: for all students to achieve their educational objectives, graduate and use their skills, talents, and passion to create the lives they choose and serve the communities where they live. I am a bay area native, received my AB in Mathematics from Smith College and my MS and Ph.D. in Mathematics from UC Santa Cruz, go Slugs!

I enjoy my position as Co-Interim Dean of the College of Science because I get to learn about and participate in the exciting work of our students, staff, and faculty across all disciplines. My goal is to foster and support a learning community in the College where all its members have the opportunity to reach their potential and contribute to their academic community and to society during their time at East Bay and beyond. I received my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and my doctoral degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
