Understanding Your Aid Package

We provide various financial aid resources for our future and current students, including grants, loans, scholarships, and work study. After you submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application, we evaluate your eligibility for different types of financial aid awards. Based on your needs and qualifications, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships creates a package of financial aid that may include scholarship funds, work study, and student or parent loans.

Please Review This Important Information:

 

The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships will notify you via your horizon email account when any changes or updates occur to your aid package. Note that your aid is subject to change based on various factors associated with individual program requirements. Factors include but are not limited to adding or dropping courses, not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress, additions of other aid components such as scholarships, or changes to your cost of attendance. Please note the following:

Federal and State Laws will not allow CSU East Bay to issue financial aid in excess of the students' 'Need' as calculated by the FAFSA/CADAA application (COA-SAI=Need) or the established cost of attendance. Click here for information on the cost of attendance appeal process.

Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan: Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6+ units (undergraduate) / 4+ units (graduate) to remain eligible for this award. Must also complete the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note via upon acceptance of the aid. Click on the tiles below for more information.

EOP: You must be enrolled in 12 or more credits and maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA to remain eligible for this award. Click on the tiles below for more information.

Estimated Aid: Please review your To-Do List on your MyCSUEB portal and submit all required documents. You will receive a final award letter when we have completed the review of your file. Note that an estimated aid package is not official and will not be taken as payment by the Student Financial Services Department. 

Federal Work Study: The Federal Work Study program funds is intended to help the university fund student worker positions on campus. This award will not disburse to your student account, you must secure a work study position and earn these funds through a monthly paycheck. Private Loan: This aid may be adjusted depending on enrollment and cost of attendance. 

PLUS Loan: Modifications of the Parent PLUS or Graduate PLUS loan which include (but are not limited to): increase/decrease in the award, method of disbursement, and/or cancellation must be provided in writing from the borrower. Parents of dependent students or graduate students may apply for a Plus Loan via . Click on the tiles below for more information.

State University Grant: Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6+ units (4+ units for graduate students) for the semester to maintain this aid. If another state resource has paid your tuition for the semester, you will not be eligible to receive this. Click on the tiles below for more information.

Middle Class Scholarship: Aid posted on initial FA notifications indicates that based on your FAFSA/CADAA and your initial submission of GPA information, you are estimated to receive this fund. This is pending verification of the information that you submitted on your Financial Aid and Admissions application. Note that amounts are subject to change depending on the accuracy of the information submitted by the applicant, units of enrollment, cost of attendance, other available gift aid, self-help student contribution amount determined by the State, and if applicable, parent contribution for dependent students with a household income of over $100,000.
