Staff Wellness, Enrichment and Engagement Team (SWEET)

Dear campus community,

I am most pleased to announce the formation of our new Staff Wellness, Enrichment and Engagement Team (SWEET). Thanks to all of you who nominated someone or expressed interest in being part of this new initiative. As you may recall, SWEET is a direct result of feedback we received from staff employees in our last campus climate/campus experience assessment. SWEET will be a means for gathering, learning and supporting each other.

Members of your SWEET are:

  • Tina Avilla, Compliance
  • Michael Bautista, Human Resources
  • Chantale Ebarle, Office of Research & Sponsored Programs
  • Sarah Harris, University Communications & Marketing
  • Lizbeth Huerta, Center for Community Engagement
  • Karen Ling, Faculty Affairs
  • Ventura Longoria, Facilities
  • Richard Moala, University Extension
  • Mimi Wall, College of Science
The group will convene this Wednesday, Nov. 9 for its inaugural meeting. We'll begin planning a big SWEET launch event for early spring semester. I will also ask SWEET to develop a survey to solicit ideas from all our staff employees about future SWEET-sponsored events. Everyone can be involved.

Also, while we're at it, please hold the date for Thursday, Dec. 8, 3-5 p.m. for our annual holiday celebration. More details to come in a separate message.

I hope you share my excitement at the start of SWEET and join me in expressing appreciation to the members of this new team as we launch a new era of staff recognition at 911±¬ÁÏÍøState East Bay.

All the best,
Cathy Sandeen
